The Estate Grounds

Ninety acres of exceptional beauty is the result of extensive restoration work to the estate grounds. As part of the overall restoration of Coodham the gardens and walkways have been developed to reflect the early years of nurturing. The lakeside woodlands are of significant horticultural status, containing a rare species of spruce pine. The grounds are host to 30 species of bamboo, and many other trees and plants, including a number from the Black forest and California. Many of these have been there since early the nineteenth century, selected by Sir William Holdsworth.

The Lake

All apartments, with the exception of the West Wing, enjoy spectacular lake views. Extensive restoration work has resulted in an environment very much in harmony with nature. Coodham Lake, one of only two ‘lakes’ in Scotland, is today stocked with a variety of fish and attracting birds and wildlife. It is a stunning focal point and at around I mile in circumference it also makes for a very pleasant walk.
